DIY Halloween Projects for the Family

Halloween is right around the corner and we want to make sure you’re prepared to decorate your home with extra material you may have laying around the house…or with some items you might find at the ReStore! Below is a list of some of our favorite Halloween DIY projects to make your holiday extra spooky.

1. Mason Jar Luminaries. Grab some craft supplies you have laying around and get ready to make some unforgettable Halloween luminaries. You’ll need your basics:
Tissue paper (orange)
Adhesive glue
Mod podge
Ribbon (green, purple, and/or black!)
Twine or yarn
Smooth mason jars

ReStore twist: Use globe lighting covers as a substitute for the mason jars!

And if you want to make some fancy extras:
Spray paint
Floral embellishments

Once you have your craft supplies, you can start creating your own! Our favorites are the mummy and pumpkin. Here are some luminaries you can make with those supplies:

2. Wine Bottle Jack-o-Lanterns. As simple as it sounds—grab some wine bottles, spray paint, markers, and adhesive remover.

Empty those wine bottles, use the adhesive remover to take off the labels, spray paint the bottles, use the markers to create a face, and you’re done!

ReStore twist: Grab some fun colored spray paints from our paint aisle! It’s a more affordable way to snag some color for your project.

The finished product will look something like this:
